It's been a suspiciously long time since we've had any major casting announcements on the upcoming HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE and in these dark strike times, we all need some positive news to keep us going, don't we? British thesp Helen McCrory, it seems, has been cast in THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE as Narcissa Malfoy, mother of the exceedingly petulant Draco Malfoy, wife of the exceedingly evil Lucius Malfoy and sister of the exceedingly wacky-haired Bellatrix Lestrange (played by Helena Bonham Carter in THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX). McCrory was apparently up for the role of Lestrange in the original but a bun in the oven kept her from taking the part. The currently filming HALF-BLOOD PRINCE opens November 21st of next year.

I thought they would have gone with a taller, thinner, more elfin looking woman for this role. The Malfoys always seemed to me to be more like fashionistas in the wizarding world.
